Let The Religiosity Wars Commence

Now that the Supremes have ruled that we can be a Theocracy the only question is what cult will rule the Theocracy?? The owner of Hobby Lobby that brought the suit to the Supreme Court is Pentecostal, but the justices that gave him the green light are Roman Catholic. I'm sure there are others in the mix too because several others were involved in the suit. It'll be interesting to see which version of religion will prevail in the years to come as the Theocracy takes shape.

The ironic thing is that over 200 years ago we fought for independence from a country that used religion to rule.

 Now that religion can trump a federal law (which the ACA is), state laws don't mean shit.  I'm willing to bet there are some Mormons thinking they can now have multiple wives and the law can't do anything about it as religion trumps any law. Maybe when a Muslim says the Koran allows him 4 wives, that'll be a different story. But, but, you have the wrong religion!!

Any business can disregard any law or regulation by whining "Religious Freedom!!" I don't need to provide safety equipment, god will keep the workers safe and if not, maybe they weren't pious enough!! Pay extra for overtime?? My religion forbids that.

What Obamacare Being Upheld Really Means

The real reason Roberts decided to uphold Obamacare. The above compensations will continue and likely increase for the foreseeable future!!!!!! Pity the poor bastard at Humana, he only makes a measly 20 Grand a Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the real reason why healthcare is not affordable. These are the people in charge of the "DEATH PANELS"!! And this will continue now that Obamacare has been upheld.

Why Aren't More People Pissed????

On the right is a chart from last year (click on it and click again to enlarge to be able to see it better) showing how the U.S. compares to other countries on healthcare.  On average we spend twice what other industrialized countries spend per capita.  The closest any of the countries listed here comes to our spending is Switzerland and theirs is only 2/3rds of ours.  That's not even taking in to account the millions of people in this country that don't have any healthcare coverage.  Now if we are spending twice as much and getting a helluva lot less, doesn't that strike you as a BAD DEAL????  We have a  lower life expectancy and a higher infant mortality rate, so we do lead in something, but it's not a good thing.  Seems to me someone is getting fucked on this deal and I would say it's all of us!!!

Now why would anyone fight to keep such a PISS-POOR system???  I can see the rich bastards being for it as they are for anything that makes them money by fucking over everybody else.  But why would Joe-Sixpack or Joe the Plumber be for this???  Would the Wal-Mart shoppers be happy if they were told, "You have to pay twice as much for this stuff as the rest of the world!!"  Hell No, they wouldn't, there'd be riots.  So why do these same people want to keep the old fucked-up system in place????  Is it because they have been sold a bill of goods, "We have the best healthcare in the world."  Fifteen years ago whenever some "DittoHead" would repeat that line of BULLSHIT, I'd say, "No, we have the most expensive healthcare in the world!!!"  While I like to say "I'm smarter than the average bear", I'm no fucking genius, and I figured it out a long time ago.  So why doesn't the rest of the country???

Could it be that most people that have insurance aren't paying the full fare???  Those that get insurance thru their jobs usually only pay part of the premium while the employer pays most of it.  And those without insurance believe the bullshit about how they can always go to the ER when truly sick or hurt.  The apartment manager here where I live told me he pays $800 a month for his medical insurance and another $800 for his adult daughter.  That's $9600 a year each.  Unless they have some kind of medical catastrophe,  there is no way someone would get that much medical treatment in a year.

Example: The Old Lady knew a couple who lived in Sweden.  The woman got breast cancer which metastasized and finally killed her.  My cousin got breast cancer which metastasized and finally killed her.  The difference; the woman in Sweden never had to worry about how to pay for her treatment, whereas my cousin had to ask friends and relatives to hold spaghetti dinners to try to pay for things like drugs for chemo and she had what some consider good medical insurance.

One thing that has me scratching my ass in bewilderment is my "retarded military" relative who has socialized healthcare(medical plan for retired military, VA and next year will be on Medicare) saying he wants to be in "control" of his healthcare and that's why he wants to see "Obamacare" repealed.

Some Days I Almost Feel Sorry For The Poor Bastards,

Conservatives that is, but not the Rich Bastards. Spent most of yesterday going back and forth with someone on FB who had put up a link declaring "Millions of Rebels Waiting to be Tapped". It was an article about the evils of Healthcare Reform. I made the mistake of commenting, asking if he was going to free himself and give up his "Socialist-Government medical care?? Of course NOT, he claims he earned all three of his medical plans. Then I asked him why he posted the link?? Then he comes back with he can post anything he wants long as it is legal and is only his and God's business. Why bring the mythical being somewhere in the sky into it, all I asked was "WHY??" In the course of the back and forth he threw this question from out in left field(or in his case, right field), "What does healthcare have to do with selling your house?" At this point I thought he had totally lost it, gone completely around the bend, Full Blown Bat-Shit Crazy. He kept telling me to read the whole bill( why should I waste my time reading something where almost all of it doesn't apply to me and even lawyers would have trouble understanding it)!! Turns out there is a provision in the bill for charging a 3.8% levy on capital gains above the threshold for individuals or couples($250,000 for individuals or $500,000 for couples, that's if they sell something for that much more than they paid for it). After looking around the Intratubes, I finally found what he was talking about and on Snopes.com found the true skinny on it. I sent him the link on it, said he didn't have to worry about it and asked him to read it. His reply was that he hadn't read my link, but he had read the whole bill and should he only care about things that affect him?? This is what I call being willfully Ignorant!!

Last year he was all pissed off about this plan to tax all financial transactions HR 4646. Said he didn't want to pay any taxes except sales tax(this from someone whose entire income is from the government)!! Turns out there is a bill to do a 1% tax on all financial transactions except buying and selling stocks. It was introduced by Rep. Chaka Fattah, D-PA. several times the last being in 2010. It had no, zero, nada, zilch co-sponsors and died in committee because of lack of support. Even tho I pointed this out to him last fall and sent him the link to it on Snopes.com, he still insisted that this would be passed by the Democrats after the election. We all know what happened in the Lame Duck Session and it never came up. My guess is he didn't read that one either, "Don't confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up . There is not DOUBT in my military mind"

The thing that kills me is that even when confronted with the facts they refuse to accept them. The only information that counts is what they hear in their Government-Hating Circle-Jerk Echo Chamber. Those pesky facts, they seem to have a librul bias. Or is it that the Never-Right deals in innuendo, half-truths and outright lies???

My plan is to ignore him in the future. We Finns have this interesting quirk, when we figure out that arguing with someone is a waste of breath, we stop talking. That doesn't mean you won the argument, it means the person you were arguing with has decided you aren't worth talking to.
