It's OK If You Like Women With Little Beards

“The only thing that I’ve heard is if you take a plastic bottle and put it in the microwave and you heat it up, it gives off a chemical similar to estrogen. So the worst case is some women may have little beards.”

Ran across this this morning and then MRMAcrum   had a post about this guy.

Sometimes Your Initial Thoughts Are Correct

Back when I was in the war(as some used to call being in the military back during 'Nam), I used to think and say that "Lifers" were only in the military because they were too dumb to make it on the outside in a real job in the real world.  After getting out and as I got older I mellowed a bit.  As I worked as a migrant aircraft mechanic with former military types, I began to rethink my opinion of "Lifers" and would alternate between calling them "Retired" and "Retarded Military".

Then yesterday a "Retarded Military" relative of mine forwarded me a disgusting e-mail trashing Gabrielle Giffords.  It accused her of dissing Gen. Petraeus during a congressional hearing.  About asking him why the Army wasn't doing more to reduce its carbon footprint in The War Against Terror.

At first it pissed me off that someone would be trashing someone that had been shot in the head during an assassination attempt.  I glanced at it and then hit delete.  Later I decided to check out this BULLSHIT.  In less than a minute, I found it to be PURE BULLSHIT.  First I googled her name.  In the e-mail it stated that this info was in the Wikipedia about her.  WRONG!!  Then I went to and typed in her name.  This was the only hit.  Turns out this was circulated during the last election campaign by her opponent.

In less than a minute I found the info to disprove the e-mail.  After thinking about it for a while, I replied to the e-mail.  I said, "You are a FUCKING IDIOT!!!"  I also mentioned it took me less than a minute to find out it was bullshit.

In the past I have included links to the info proving his bullshit wrong, but I no longer bother as he won't read it anyway.

As my title says, sometimes your initial thoughts are correct.  Most "Lifers" are too fucking dumb to pour piss out of a boot even if the instructions are printed on the heel.

I have asked this question a number of times and have yet to receive an answer.  "Why are those in the military and ex-military so Right-Wing when the Right-Wing doesn't give a shit about people, only property.??"  Could it be they really believe the FuckingRepublican propaganda about how they love the military when actually they love defense contractors and prove it everyday while fucking over the troops while rewarding the various defense contractors.

It's The Old Spanish Trail, Not "El Camino Real"

Here is a map of the Old Spanish Trail that ran from St. Augustine, Florida to San Diego, California.
This is the Zero Mile Marker for the Old Spanish Trail in St. Augustine.  It is made from coquina a local stone that is full of sea shells that have not fossilized.  Across the street is the Castillo de San Marcos which is made from the same stone.
Plaque on the Zero Mile Marker.  There are other markers in San Antonio, TX and San Diego, CA.  We almost missed the marker, but saw mention of it in the book, "Road Trip USA".  So on our way out of town, we stopped and checked out the Zero Mile Marker.  We thought it was the end of El Camino Real, but when googling El Camino Real, none of those roads led to St. Augustine.  There are a lot of routes labeled El Camino Real (The Kings Highway), all the old Spanish roads were called that, some with names indicating where they went to or from. Where we have seen signs for El Camino Real is basically US-84 from Brunswick, GA to TX and then some other roads down towards San Antonio and on to Mexico.

Titties & Beer

Another song from YouTube.

Last Friday we were on I-95 in the Jacksonville area during the evening rush and I was reminded of the song "I-95 Asshole".  I went to YouTube this morning and found several versions of the song.  Then I found other songs that tickled my fancy and I thought that with all the depressing news lately, a little escapist humor might be in order.  Enjoy, I did!!

A Chipmunk Song

An interesting little song I found while surfing YouTube.

Hemp Car

Making a car out of hemp is not a new idea.   First saw an article on a hemp car in Popular Science and went looking for more info on the intratubes.  Was surprised to find out about the Ford hemp car.  Ford made one back in 1941.
The hemp fiber makes it lighter and is cheaper than either fiberglas or carbon fiber.

When you no longer can use the car, instead of sending it to the junkyard, you can smoke it!! Win, Win.

Roadside Memorials

Below is the new roadside memorial in GA.  It would cost $100 and be in place for one year.  Now, who's going to pay $100 for this piece of shit to paganistically commemorate the spot where a loved one died??

You'd think they could have come up with something better than this, but then again, it is GA!!

I realize taxes are a necessary evil to pay for a civilized society, and in theory I don't have anything against paying taxes if I think I am getting a good return on my taxes.  But when it appears I am subsidizing the rich and the corporations with my taxes and/or my labor, then it just becomes an evil.

I think I got burnt out on paying taxes back in '97 when one of the Senators for the state I was working in released his tax info.  The previous year The Old Lady and I made $15K.  The Senator made over $150K.  We paid $1500 in federal taxes, give or take a few dollars.  The Senator paid around $700 in federal taxes.  He made over ten times what we did and paid less than half of what we did in federal taxes.  At that rate, I guess millionaires pay no taxes, or so it seems to me.  One of the reasons for this disparity is we have never been able to itemize our taxes.  We've owned several houses and paid mortgages, but we've never cracked the threshold for itemizing.  We've always had to use the standard deduction because we didn't have enough deductions even with mortgage interest and other stuff to itemize.

That same year I got this Dilbert shirt.(The shirt finally wore out last year and became rags.)  Well, after that job ended, I put the bastard on a diet!!  I did work off and on (more off than on) after that, but I lost all enthusiasm for working to subsidize the rich after that year.

Mackinac Bridge

The FuckingRepublican'ts keep saying the government is redistributing the money from the rich to the poor, when exactly the opposite is true.  The rich get huge taxes cuts with a few crumbs for the workers who by and large produce the wealth of this country.  Then they add or increase things like sales tax and various fees which are harder on those with a limited income than for the rich.  I'm still pissed when Michigan in the early '70s raised the license fees for vehicles and lowered the toll on the Mackinac Bridge from $3.75 each way to $1.50 each way.  That made easier for the FuckingTrolls to come up to the U.P. to play, but fucked everyone in the whole state that owned a car or truck.  One of my friends at the time said, "It's like raising the property taxes in the whole state to build a new sewer system for Detroit, because you might be passing through one day and leave a shit in a gas station restroom in Detroit!!"

On the right is the type of phone we had when they finally ran the phone lines out into the boondocks from town.  We had a different style crank phone before we got this style.  There were only about 3 or 4 places with phones in out little town at first.  We had one because my dad worked on the RR and we had a phone in case he was needed to work on the tracks for some reason after normal work hours (derailment or shoveling out switches and other stuff in the winter).  With the first phone we had, the phone lines ran along the RR tracks and the operator was in a town over 40 miles away.  A call to the nearest town was a long distance call and all local calls cost a dime. .
When they ran the phone lines out from town, we had ten houses on a line.  There were only three or four lines coming to our area.

Over the years the phones changed, first it was the rotary dial and eventually the party lines were eliminated.  At one time we had a long cord on the handset so you could move around some while talking on the phone and later we got a cordless phone.

Now we have the cellphones on the right.  No longer do we have to be home to use the phone, but also we aren't really ever away from the phone, except when traveling thru a dead zone.  Or if the phone is turned off.

Old School Project

Back in Jr. High and the first two years of High School, I was subjected to shop class.  At the time I was not very talented in the manual arts, so to speak.  Because of my perceived lack of talent, I didn't think much of  of my projects and most of them either were burnt in the wood stove or got thrown in the swamp.  This little book rack survived.  It was supposed to be stylized cats from a pattern from the early 60s or late 50s.  I always thought it looked like either snails or dinosaurs.

Over the years it has held books and other things.  The picture on the right shows what it holds today.  Talk about an odd couple, a bunny rabbit and a ballerina cow in a tutu!!

I can see where I glued two pieces of wood together with a tongue and groove joint to have a piece wide enough to cut out the ends.  Today a woodworker would use a biscuit joiner to cut grooves for the biscuits to make a strong glue joint.  Some years back the joint on one end did let go and I re-glued it.  Other than that it has survived the years fairly well.

Ole and Lena Jokes

Ole and Lena was at the kitchen table for the usual morning cup of coffee and listening to a weather report coming from the radio. "There will be 3 to 5 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. All vehicles should be parked on the odd-numbered side of the streets today to facilitate snowplows," the radio voice declared. "Oh, gosh, OK," said Ole, getting up, bundling up and heading outside to dutifully put his car on the odd-numbered side of the street.

Two days later, Ole and Lena were at morning coffee when the radio voice said: "There will be 2 to 4 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your vehicles on the even-numbered side of the streets." Ole got up from his coffee as before. He bundled up, shuffled off, and put his car on the even-numbered side of the street.

A few days later, the couple was at the table when the radio voice declared: "There will be 6 to 8 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your cars on the ..." Just then, the power went out. "Park it where?" Ole asked in the dark, "What should I do?" "Aw, to heck with them, Ole," Lena said, "Don't worry about it today. Just leave the car in the garage."

Another joke:
Ole and Lena got married. On their honeymoon trip they were nearing Minneapolis when Ole put his hand on Lena's knee. Giggling, Lena Said, "Ole, you can go farther if ya vant to"... so Ole drove to Duluth.

Dancing Elephant

I know GE is trying to tell us how "Eco-Friendly" they are, but to me it says look at how we have our politicians dancing to our tune.  Also the party isn't as big as they think they are, they are just little shits compared to GE!!  Dance little elephant, be a good little elephant and do as you are told!!
