Happy St. Urho's Day

St. Urho the hero of Finland, he chased all the grasshoppers out of Finland and saved the grape crop, so we can celebrate the day.

  1. Never heard of St. Urho but it's just another myth. Hope you enjoy some Irish food, and of course beer.

  2. It's not a myth, it was all made up by a guy in Minnesota back in the '50s who got tired of all the bullshit about St. Paddy's day. That's why it comes a day before St. Paddy's day.

The Finns in the upper Mid-West have taken the story to heart and decided to have some fun, in some areas they have parades and dances to celebrate.

Then again, last month at a town not too far from where I live they had outhouse races. The winters are long and cabin fever sets in.

  3. Good as any reason to have a drink and an outhouse race.
