Will This Shit Ever End??????

Some flowers have come up, but the snow has knocked them down. Once the snow melts they should perk up.

 We had bare ground around the parking area until this morning when it got covered with white shit again.

My little trailer that was almost buried in snow until recently. A few days ago I noticed that it had fallen onto its wheels, but there is still too much snow to get it out of there so I can use it. My first project for it will be hauling firewood and I can't do that until all of the ground is bare and dry. The other day The Old Lady bought an apple tree. She plans on planting it close to where this trailer is, about twenty feet from it and there is still over a foot of snow on the ground.

Update: 5/12/'13 The new snow melted during the course of the day and then yesterday evening it started snowing again. This morning there was 2-3 inches of more snow. It's a bitch trying to plant stuff when you have to first scrape the snow out of the way before you can dig a hole in the ground.

First Day Of Spring

 This was the scene this morning, peaceful, serene. Got several inches of fluffy snow overnight. Forecast is for 2-4 inches today and another inch or so tonight. This is why I never pay any attention to those lying groundhogs!!

The grader operator is beginning to think The Old Lady is stalking him. She's been taking pictures of him plowing our driveway all winter. Because the county road commission in this county still does driveway plowing for a fee, we don't have to worry about being snowed in. Because once you are off the list for driveway plowing you can't get back on it, we paid for several years when we weren't here in order to stay on the list as we knew we would be living here again.

Also this is why I didn't worry about fixing my plowtruck last fall when I had a problem with it. I'll wait until the snow is gone and the weather is warmer to fix it.  I need to pull the engine to change the motor mounts. Thought I could do it by just jacking up the engine a bit, but had a problem with a rusted bolt and will pull the  engine to get better access to remove the bolt.

This was put up on facebook by a local TV station this morning. I guess I was wrong about the amount of snow that we got last night. According to whoever called in to the TV station we got 8.4 inches. Well, like they say, snow is a lot like sex, you don't know how many inches you'll get or how long it will last!!

Spring

This shot is the same as the one on the header of the blog (also at the bottom of the blog), just different time of the year.  There is a layer of ground fog in the foreground from the snow because the temp is in the upper 40s-lower50s.  And it wasn't even 10am when I took the picture.

We've had a week of warm weather, 50s, 60s, even pushing 70.  Usually at this time of year they are warning people they have to get their ice shanties off of Lake Superior by Mar. 31.  Last week every time we went to town there were boats out in the bay with people fishing.  Heard a rumor that there had been a couple of brave souls had ventured out on the ice in the bay and done some ice fishing.  The fact that their big balls didn't cause them to break thru the ice amazes me!!

Update: just heard the forecast for today, high 76 to 81, cooler near the lake.

Addendum also:  Today's high was 70 with 1 to 2ft of snow on the ground.  UN-FUCKING-REAL!!
