Recently The Old Lady made some instant pudding from a package that didn't have a "best if used by" date and we are still alive, I think?? The fact that our food didn't have an expiration date, does that mean we don't have one either???
Also avoid food products that don't have a zip code in the address. Zip codes were introduced 50 years ago yesterday.
I eat things that are past the expiration date all the time. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
ReplyDeleteI think I seen some "C" rations on a deploymet that had to have been
ReplyDeleteeither WWII or Korea vintage.
Sarge
Sarge, never ate C rations. Occasionally the chow hall would do C rations and I would go get a hamburger at the snack bar or BX cafeteria.
ReplyDeleteHow old would the pudding package have been, not to have a best before date?
ReplyDeleteMost best befores have a great deal of margin built in; some things are only given a best before because the law requires it.
When my wife and I were going to college we use to shop at what we called the Used Food Store...almost everything was out of date; but cheap. We lived in an old house with no electricity, no plumbing...and at first our only transportation was our motorcycle.
ReplyDeleteWe appreciated used food.
