Here is a Civics Quiz.
WASHINGTON (AFP) – US elected officials scored abysmally on a test measuring their civic knowledge, with an average grade of just 44 percent, the group that organized the exam said Thursday.
Ordinary citizens did not fare much better, scoring just 49 percent correct on the 33 exam questions compiled by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI).
I found a link to the test on the blog; Happy To Be From Iowa. H/T to Mnmom.
This quiz was done by Intercollegiate Studies Institute.
Elected Officials Score Lower than the General Public
Officeholders typically have less civic knowledge than the general public. On average, they score 44%, five percentage points lower than non-officeholders.
Thirty percent of elected officials do not know that “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” are the inalienable rights referred to in the Declaration of Independence
This explains a lot about how our country got as fucked up as it is today. Maybe we need to give politicians a civics test before they can run for office. If you flunk, go home.
Here is a breakdown on how people scored based on education, income, political leanings, church goer or not, etc..........
I got 29 out of 33 for a score of 87.88%. The score by age peaks at 45-64 (the group I'm in) and drops off for 65+. Dementia maybe??
I took the quiz -88, too. Maybe I should swithc away from math.
ReplyDeleteAll you got to do is to persuade a bunch of people to give you money to run for office. I would guess you would do a lot better job than those in office now. And in any case it would be extremely difficult to do worse.
ReplyDeleteI answered 31 out of 33 correctly — 93.94 %
ReplyDeleteAnd I still feel like an idiot. I needed to do some guessing.
